This attractive two-fold screen with Chrysanthemums climbing up a bamboo trellis on a gold background contained within a red lacquered wood frame.

The Chrysanthemum is a paramount symbol in Japan, representing the Emperor, the Imperial Family, Longevity and Rejuvenation.

Provenance: Acquired by the previous owner from the Paris Biennale des Antiquaires in 1982.
