Enamel Bonbonniere/ Love Token

The colourful body comprising two entwined love birds with a rising lad depicting a further two pairs of love birds in a rural landscape.

Bonbonnieres were designed as portable containers for snuff patches or sweetmeats.
In this case it seems likely that the present piece was presented as a love token.
