The ebony cavetto moulded cornice is above a pair of glazed doors with amboyna, ebony strung and metal inlaid surrounds. The base has two short and two long teak lined drawers with ebony strung edges, metal inlay and original lion mask knobs, above a further ebony moulding and terminating in four ebony bun feet.
This charming piece displays exceptional cabinet workmanship and was probably created by an extremely able apprentice for his final examination before being admitted to the Guild.
The use of Amboyna and Ebony can be found in Chinese campaign chests and also an exceptional Bureau Cabinet made for the Danish market.
