A CHINESE EXPORT LACQUER PIER/CONSOLE TABLE

Circa 1830

A rare polychrome lacquer console table with drawer on a black ground with unusual carved acanthus capitals to each column.  The top depicts people pursuing pastimes in a riverside landscape among trees, pavilions, pagodas and river craft.  The frieze which contains a drawer is similarly decorated both on the front and the sides. There are four column supports leading to a platform base with foliate decoration and central flower head.
