Queen Anne Walnut Bureau Cabinet

Excellent colour and well figured walnut on the front and the sides. The metal work appears to be original with the possible exception of the Cabinet escutcheon. The mirror has been replaced. The vertical mouldings flanking the mirror are unusual but appear to be original.

 
This exquisitely small Cabinet has an arched cavetto cornice with turned finials above a mirrored door enclosing two adjustable and one fixed shelf. Below the door is an inset candle slide. The mirror door is flanked by unusual cross- grain mouldings to each side. The Bureau section has a fall font which opens to reveal a stepped and fitted interior with three drawers, pigeon holes and a well with sliding cover above two short and two long drawers, all with herringbone cross banding and separated by   end- grain mouldings. The whole terminates with a prominent stepped ogee moulding above four bun feet.
