These original wood block prints on washi paper are from ‘One Hundred Chrysanthemums’ by Keika Hasegawa.
They have been sensitively box framed in sapele wood to accentuate their beauty and origin.
Although ‘One Hundred Chrysanthemums’ is well known and sought after the artist is something of an enigma. Little has been published regarding her life or her wider works or her processes as a printmaker . Most museums record her as being active 1893-1905.
