The fall front, with complex lock, opens to reveal a velvet lined interior with vanity mirror, two drawers and several secret jewellery or coin compartments. There is some historical restoration to the back veneer and minor repairs to the metalwork as to be expected with a fine travelling casket of this great age.
These handsome caskets were used to house precious possessions whilst travelling. There are two long bolts, only accessible with the key, that can ingeniously fasten the casket to a wooden surface for safe keeping.
