Argenta Green Jardiniere by Wilhelm Kage

Signed in paint on the underneath, ‘Gustavsberg Kage’ with a separate signature scratched and dated ‘1926’.

Diameter 12 ½” (32cm) Height 10” (26cm)

An Argenta green faience jardiniere in high relief décor with floral branches by the well known Swedish ceramicist Wilhelm Kage (1889-1960), made in Gustavsberg, Sweden.

Gustavsberg porcelain is renowned for its quality and classic design. The town itself is a charming coastal locality in the Stockholm archipelago.

This model was included in the triumphant Swedish Pavilion at the Paris Exhibition of 1925, for which Sweden was awarded 36 gold medals and received considerable praise from European critics. The fact that the focus of the Paris exhibition was on French design made this achievement even more impressive.
