An Anglo-Indian hardwood and ivory writing slope, with ribbed panels constructed from porcupine quills opening to reveal a fitted interior comprising four compartments; three with smaller ivory lids, the other larger compartment underneath the velvet fall. These writing slopes were primarily used by British military officers or East India Company Officials to write comprehensive reports and letters back to Britain.
