Metamorphic Dining Table

AN EXCEPTIONAL METAMORPHIC MAHOGANY DINING TABLE
ENGLAND C.1845
ATTRIBUTED TO BLAIN, LIVERPOOL (1835-1871)

The well figured circular moulded top with six later leaves increasing the diameter to 7'2”
The three original large rectangular leaves extending the table to an oblong of 12' 3”

The elaborately carved quadripartite base with pierced leaf and scrolled ends with double shell terminals on sloped plinth base and bun feet. the whole encasing a central turned shaft.

Circle with leaves : 84.5” Diameter
Closed circle without leaves : 57.75” Diameter
