Early George III Cellarette

AN EARLY GEORGE III MAHOGANY CELLARETTE IN THE MANNER OF THOMAS CHIPPENDALE

Bearing label for Norman Adams

England Circa 1770

Excellent condition and colour

Height 30” (76 cm) Width 15” (38cm) square

A well figured, rising mahogany caddy top with egg and dart moulded edge and drop handle and keyhole, sits above a moulded panelled front which is mirrored on both sides, the side panels in addition are centred by brass ring handles with decorated back plates. All four corners are generously chamfered. The lower frieze is subtly decorated with three paterae to the front and each side. The foursquare tapering legs terminate in robust cups and castors for easy mobility.

This is a fine example of the care taken to protect the integrity and patination of the piece by the previous owner.
