Although unsigned this commode relates to three pieces by Bayer illustrated in Maitres Ebenistes Francais au XV111 Siecle. The geometric parquetry designs both on the sides and the front and the use of musical instruments within the central marquetry panel are all typical of his work.
The Gris Des Ardennes, Belgium, marble top is particularly pleasing and well figured.
