Breakfront Library Bookcase

The bookcase of breakfront form, constructed in well chosen burr walnut veneers, cross-banded in root walnut, with extensive line inlay, the upper section with four arched glazed doors, the interior shelves with burr walnut facings to the edges, with a marquetry inlaid frieze and a conforming breakfront cornice above, the four lower doors having fielded panels with boxwood enclosed marquetry inlay of arabesque form, derived from Plate 5, the Arabian Section, The Grammar of Ornament, by Owen Jones, published in 1856, on a line inlaid breakfront plinth base.
