Jean-Marie Collet (b.1941-) Bronze Group of a Standing Man & Woman
Signed ‘Collet’ to the bronze base
Circa 1970
The cast bronze group of a man and woman, both shown standing and wearing similar long straight robes. The male figure slightly to the fore, the woman positioned close behind with her left hand resting on his shoulder and her right hand supporting his right elbow.
The figures demonstrate a marked simplicity of form and have a pervading calmness despite the solidity and strength of the group.
Collet was greatly interested in the work of Giacometti and his influence can clearly be seen in the present group.
