Each one of these beautiful reliefs, made of embossed papier-mache is signed by one of his three leading apprentices/pupils who were employed to hand colour his basso-relievos. These were Gustavus Hamilton, James Reilly and Daniel O’Keeffe.
In 1748 Samuel Dixon was listed as painter and picture dealer in Capel Street, Dublin, Ireland. In later life he opened a shop in London but returned to Dublin in 1768 where he died in 1769.
Minor restoration, the two smaller being slightly reduced in size and with marginally different frame decoration. Minimal retouching to the paint.
