THE TALLEYRAND SCARLET JAPANNED CABINET ON STAND

European Circa 1810

 

The exterior decorated in shades of gold with Chinese figures and buildings,

The interior with shelves and eleven drawers surrounding open shelves, also painted with Chinese figures and flowering branches on a bottle green ground, the shelves and interiors of the drawers decorated in imitation of maki-e lacquer; on serpentine table stand raised on cabriole legs, the apron and knees carved with grotesque masks.
