Excellent colour, patination and finely chased detail.
The slightly recessed top with egg and dart gadrooned border and fluted bowl shaped foot leading to two ring turnings centred by a chased acanthus leaf ring. These cap a tapered and fluted column issuing from a cluster of stylised palm leaves above three acanthus leaf draped monopodiae with claw feet on a triform plinth terminating in half bun feet.
A closely related pair can be seen in Thomas Hope ‘Drawing Room’, plate 6 Household Furniture 1807 and a single illustrated in plate I.
