Chinese Export Chestnut Bowl


Circa 1880

The oval polychrome and gilt bowl depicting a pavilion scene of an elegant lady working with a scroll with four female onlookers, the former possibly teaching calligraphy.   The sides have pierced trellis work bordered at the top with exotic birds in a floral landscape.  There are a pair of gilt scallop shell handles.

Length: 9 ¼” (23.5 cm);  Width: 8” (20.5 cm); Height:5” (13 cm).
