George III Oval Cellarette

Attributed to GILLOWS OF LANCASTER & LONDON (worked 1730-1903)

England | c. 1810
The cellarette with an oval, slightly tapered, body of highly figured mahogany and
with a flat oval hinged top with reeded edge, the top shaped above four reeded
three-quarter baluster columns to the sides over ring-turned tapered legs and large brass castors.

The interior retaining the original lead lining, with five divisions to one half and,
unusually, two plugs to the base.

The finely drawn design, use of exceptional mahogany veneers and the highest
quality materials thoughout points to the work of Gillows.
