A Chinese glazed earthenware camel, Tang Dynasty (618 – 907).

The glazed earthenware figure of a Bactrian camel modelled standing and fully saddled with cloth and an elaborate saddle with mask to either side, birds and scrolls.

The glaze in unusually good condition and largely extant.

The Bactrian camel is native to the steppes of Central Asia and was notably used on the Silk Roads out of China into Central Asia.
